Big Banyan Tree at Perugulam -Near Churangudi

The age of the big banyan tree at Perungulam  is believed to be  more than centuries .This tree should have  seen the histories of  past.

I used to hear some stories of ghost near  this tree.Many times I have visited  this tree..those times a strange fear would come up  in my  mind  when I  go near to this tree...But that doesn't bothered my  inquisitiveness to know or  visit this tree.That time the tree looks so big compared to now.

There was a Pond near to this tree called Perungulam.Those days the village Perungulam  look so beautiful and the village near by look so green with paddy field.

 

Today so much of changes. The  village I have seen earlier was no more .

 

The people who scared to go near the tree was no more scaring one .
You can find a small shop  inside the tree.A house near by the tree.A factory near to the tree.But there are some temples near by this tree..The tree has been trimmed I guess..It was not fear some..But it has witnessed the history of many including the kings of Travancore.
