This is a known famous book shop cum stationarey shop I remember from my child hood days.The shop was closed when I took this photo...




Kanamami Kadai..

He was having this stall from my childhood days...In front of his stall filim Picture banner will be displayed mainly the movies running in Thangam theatre.








He is Periya Kanmani ..I think every SLBian should have seen him.His brother was also having one stall near to Jeya kumari stores but it was closed.


Now Ganga Lodge ..Before.Merit tuiton centre was inside the Lane....Before Ganga Lodge it belong to a Garage owner. we call him as workshop karar..Running car workshop...I have seen several times he will put a lever in front of the car to start in the old model Car. ..Friends tuition centre was near by...








Chandrika Hospital...opposite to Duthie school.. ...






Duthie school... possible to go back to mother's woomb???

Some nostalgic thoughts

I think the tamil movie Autograph of Cheran had made many people to think about the past.Partcularly about school and College.I mean that movie has provoked many people to atleast to goback and see their schools and colleges of past .I think nostalgy is very very subtle otherwise.




But,I remember someyears before JPR the founder chairman of Sathya Bama Engineering college had mentioned in one of the leading Tamil magazine .He was a student of Urappan vilai School,Kanyakumari DT.He has gone back to the same school to see his old master Ekambaram Nadar,who helped him when he was studying. When he gone there he has uderstood that he was no more....



I think is it is a common for every one.Recently I had seen the webblog of Rabindran which was so extensive...When I read his blog I could able to relate some of my childhood experience we have in Nagercoil.Click to see his blog

The most important point I would like to bring you is that .I dont know any one from Kanyakumari District could do such an extensive research in Genology about one's family.Rabindran had done his family Genology from 1837 AD From Rev J Joshua.It is really amazing..If you are intersetd to digg on this please click here

Old photos

I used to see at my young age the framed photos mounted in the wall as a part of decoration in house in many of my relatives house.Now today I had my own question and the very purpose of taking such photos?. One day I just cleaning the attic in house .I just wondered to see such old school photos which are in a stage of deformation .No one even care to keep this old photos properly including me. But again I have my own questions It is just a record to keep it in shelf and to be discarded over a period of time say a span of 50years…When I asked my sister she said it is a waste we have wasted some money for taking such photos and today we don’t have place to keep it….Any way I have my own thought about my past…Liked to be remembered …..If you are also like me though it may be my private group photos you may like to see this.






Duthie school memories.

My primary school photos at Duthie. School.When I say about Duthie tamil primary school(not MEP).I now think those teachers have given enough freedom at the same time acted firm and tough to correct us when we done mistakes….Though I am a Hindu. They taught us to pray to the almighty……I remember….Every day when before leaving the class we used to pray “Yesu devane En jeevane EZhai pillai naan Ennai rekshiyum swami –Amen”.Unlike MEP ,I remember they never asked us to knee down except for prayers.
My teachers at memories are ...

1)Esther Teacher- My first standard teacher. Tough who taught me how to write.

2) Lilly –Tough again she had made lot of efforts to shape us.

3)Joys-Scripture teacher who sing the prayer song and very good encouraging teacher.

4)Suganthi Teacher-The teacher who started teaching us English in my 4th standard.

5)Rechel-She is the youngest of all the teachers that time. She is the one who taught me about the history of the Great Macedonian King Alexander.

6)Sarojini:The highly knowledgable science teacher,I still remember she had taken us to Zoolagy lab and shown us the Human skeletons and bones…. …

Many things to remember about Duthie school.Though it is disciplined and tough .The lighter side is School day ,sports day ,colour day and they even show filims also for good cause.I remember seeing Pasa malar and some useful filims….
