Intercaste marriage

Untouchability is a sin

Untouchability is a crime

Untouchability is inhuman.

I was watching one of the talkshow in Vijay TV.One girl told that having born in a forward community she is very blessed and she had done lot of good deeds for getting a birth in this community and she will marry a person from her caste only .Lot of criticisim for the speech of the girl what she had spoken. But she was talking what she was thinking and very open enough to say that this is what I am.So many people in our country are not talking like her openly but doing what she had told and disguising that they are very open minded.

But you would be surprised to know about people like Gora Ramachandra Rao.Recently, I was reading about Shri Goparaju Ramachandra Rao(Gora Ramachandra Rao) born in a forward community fought against castesism in India.

Though by birth he being a Brahmin Gora Ramachandra rao had put a lot of efforts to eradicate untouchability and discrimination within the people by the name of caste. He had arranged intercaste marriage for his own daughters from a different (low )caste. Thus,Gora acquired moral authority in his efforts for the eradication of untouchability and caste system and encouraged others to follow the example to strive for social change. This was the thought of the people 50 years before and wanted a caste free society.

I don’t know how many parents today had the guts to arrange an intercaste marriage for their own daughters for a social cause like Gora Ramachandra Rao did 40 years before . Definitely I would say ‘No’.

Prabaharan Vs Phantom "The Ghost who walks"

I used to read Muthu comics in my child hood days. I was very much impressed by the character of Phantom (Vedalan in Tamil).I have read the first Muthu comics book Vedalanin Sorkkam. The story is only about Eden. Phantom(Vedalan) is a character inspired not only people like me but many. I was surprised to know this character has a great impact for the LTTE supremo Prabaharan also.

PHANTOM

In a world where many still hold to the supernatural, many truly believe that The Phantom is an undying avenger of wrongs. The truth is far less exotic, but no less fantastic; The Phantom is the product of a centuries-long family tradition of heroism and protection of the innocent. Each from the 16th century to the most recent one in 2056, swears the Code of the Phantom upon the same skull and does his utmost to live by its precepts. Each has Skull Cave as his headquarters. Each wears the same rings, which are used to mark friend and foe alike, and each focuses upon the same nefarious enemy: the Sengh Brotherhood, an organization of pirates and slavers that (in the contemporary and future junctures) expanded world-wide into terrorism and contraband trafficking.

The origin story began with Christopher Standish, who once served as Christopher Columbus' cabin boy, now acting as captain of a commerce vessel attacked by pirates. His young son, Kit, the sole survivor of the ordeal, sees his father slain by the pirate leader. Washing up on a distant African shore, Kit is befriended by the Bandar, a tribe of friendly pygmies. There he dwells in a cave which resembles a human skull. After discovering the body of the pirate who murdered his father, Kit swears an oath on the skull of the killer. His promise to fight piracy and injustice is carried out by his descendants for 400 years making him seem immortal to all but the pygmies.

Author of the Character:

In 1936, Lee Falk, the young writer of a two year old comic strip, Mandrake the Magician, launched a second strip, The Phantom, which featured the first costumed hero portrayed in the medium. Falk's dream was to break into theatre and he saw comics as a way to support himself while he pursued that endeavor.

The tale of the Phantom was a blend of mystical elements and realism. Drawing on the influences of classic literature, mythology, history, current events, and theatre, Falk provided something for everyone.

VELU PILLAI PRABAHARAN:
Angered as a teenager by what he saw as discrimination against Tamils in politics, employment and education, he began attending political meetings and practising martial arts. He raised against the brutalties and injustice happened to Tamil people living in Srilanka. He was inspired by the famous comics character of Lee Falk's Phantom .If you observe his life you could able to notice the influence of the comics character Phantom/Walker/Ghost who walks.

PHANTOM & DIANA FAMILY

PRABHARAN & MATHIVATHANA FAMILY

Foundation of the LTTE movement was much similar to the cause of the story of Phantom I of Phantom Dynasty. If you note the life of Phantom is in the African forest and favourite place is Eden. Phantoms’ wife Diana Walker.Velu Pillai Prabaharan in the deep Vavvunian jungle Srilanka,Wife Mathivathana.

Phantom stays in skull cave very secret protected place and no one can go to the place except a few. Prabaharan’s place at the deep vavvunian forest was highly secured no one knows where he stays and how he stays today’s news paper had given a clue it is almost similar to a Skull cave.

There are very high and intelligent sign modes used by LTTE to communicate within the Vavunia forests.Phantom had also used to communicate some secret mode and message will be communicated by a trumphet by pygmies.Phantom's ring Skull sign and Swastic sign for good and bad symbol.

This is one of the most powerful and influential comics character.Leefalk passed away in the year 1999.The character still dominates the world .

SLB School studies -Some thoughts

While thinking about my school. In our class in 6th standard we dont have any teacher for History&Geography .My midterm exam mark for History&geography was 4 marks.I was difficult to adapt myself to the sudden medium change from Tamil medium to English medium.

Those days in SLB school there was a common attitude with the masters being a big school in town they will take students for granted that they will study on their own without proper teaching. But I remember Neelasamy nadar is an exception .He was the only person atleast identified my problem and sensed my weakness and informed my parents correctly.I was not very happy those days and why this man is coming to my home and complaining about me.He is a maths teacher for my class.I would think why he is bothered about me.I heard similar experience with many.He is a good class teacher .He never tease or insult any body..But canne us as and when required to shape you....Now I feel out of the teachers I had crossed in SLB ...He is the first to come to my memory ...

I remember one master used to keep tamil selction guide at his right hand side and English selection guide at his left hand side and read to the students. This is defined as teaching ..He is called K.kallan.I remember one master asking us to buy selection guide for us to study English. One master indirectly insist students to Join in his tuition ..One master will take lunch in a big banana leaf in front of students and sleep in chair. One master always go behind the head master and act as like his PA and do all his personal jobs. Some masters have a very bad habit of making students to stand and tease in front of every students...One master for silly reasons behave very hysterically slap students and break the spine...Now nearly 20years after I feel all such teaching practices are completely wrong...They have taken students like us for granted.I dont know about the teaching practice of SLB now..

Except a very few teachers like NEELASAMY NADAR and PRAJAVTAHI TEACHER who really care for their students.Thats why I remember SLB School. If any one have any other view you can always share your thoughts.

Nadars

In one of my earlier post I have mentioned about Rabindran and his family Genology .In the meantime I was exploring has any one done such a research of Genology /Family tree from South.I was surprised to see an interesting website about one of the richest Nadar family in south..There they have mentioned about some interesting news about Nadars .The blog covers the family origin from Vanniya Nadar1 and the descendents of the family approximately 150 years before. To read more Click here.

Further the web blog says

"During the golden ages, the ancient Nadars governed their villages abiding by the principles of jurisprudence following the six - thousand Pandiyars. The Nayakka Kings, who came to resolve the issues between the Nadars, invaded the lands of Nadars. Owing to the change of government and the ruthless exploitation of the new administrators “Palayapattukaras”, many of the Nadars who lost their lands had to relocate to the villages of Kongu Nadu, such as Coimbatore and Salem and renamed themselves to be Chettys and Gounders."

Vanniya Nadar family had met King George V in 1909.To read more click here

"During the year 1909, all the family members went with Vanniya Nadar 2 to Bombay to see King George V. Then, he took everybody to the ancestral temple at Theri, Nasareth for the tonsuring function of V.V.S.Natarajan and V.V.S.Rajarathinam. He installed the statue of Karkozhai Ayyanar Swamigal at the cost of Rs.700 in the Theri temple ( The sculpture of the same is still there at the entrance of the temple ). He also used to visit couttralam often. He took care of all the family members with great love and affection. He also hosted all the guests, relatives and well-wishers with respect, honor and affection."

Further some of the Old photos.

Every one knows KAMARAJ nadar for his simplicity. There is a scene in KAMARAJ movie in the scene he will ask his people not to use Siren in his Pilot car .The picture shows KAMARAJ as a down to earth simple person. In one of the talk show some one said during Kamraj's time only a PWD contract for construction of Bridge had constructed far far below the budgeted value. The ministers and the government machinery was working so efficiently during KAMARAJ's time.

I would like to mention my personal experience about one of the Nadar business man a richest person in Viruthunagar .I have gone to meet the person. He was awarded as NO:1 Exporter for one of the whole sale spice products in India.I have taken appointment about to meet him.He is the Chairman of the company.I was enquiring his company and gone inside his factory .I never know who is the chairman of the company as that was the first time I am meeting him .

I was watching a person(skinny) age around 65 talking to watchman wearing a dhoti taking his Bicycle .I was enquiring to the watch man I want to meet the person and told him the name .He shown he is the Chairman...I couldn't believe such a simplicity no bantha...very simple..I have nearly 1 hour talk with him at any point of time I could never sense any arrogance of money. But I could sense only hard work, simplicity and do the Job..I never seen any flashy things at his office except simplicity ..I don't know whether Kamaraj nadar had influenced such a simplicity to people of Viruthu nagar.I was so astonished .I can never forget him .

Ghost

It is a one more story I am hearing from my child hood days.During my primary school days at Duthie,Nagercoil I have been told the girls who are staying in the boarding had seen the ghost..My Periyamma had told that she had seen Esakki amman Carrying a child...I never had experience of any but I do have fear at times when I go to creamation ground or any cemetary....

In my child hood days near to our home we could able to see a cemetry. Those days people will tell we should not show our hands in front of those kallarai If we do we need to put 2 fingers at our mouth. Now I am thinking laughing too..

The inquistiveness towards this subject was always there with me .During my college days I am one of the regular reader of the tamil magazine Avvikal Ulagam-By V Ravichandran.

Recently I have read the following Tamil news...It is strange expereince happened to a couple of girl students in Chennai.I dont know what it is but puzzzling..Just read the news clip.We are living in twenty first century having all the latest communication and other gadgets...But in school it has happened.
